Upon your arrival at the Refuge Ranch you are greeted with a perfect landscape and time to decompress from the stresses of daily life. Our Guided Trophy Whitetail Deer Hunts are conducted on an amazing landscape that includes river bottoms and marshlands for cover and water which help create a perfect environment for trophy deer to reach their full potential. The upland is draped with pine and hardwood forests that frame rolling acres of food plots. The Trophy Whitetail Deer Ranch has five 13 acre plots dotted throughout the Preserve, all planted with white clover and all of which are irrigated underground to ensure maximum growth and nutrition for our trophy whitetail. Make no mistake, this is a guided fair chase preserve whitetail deer hunt that will take your breath away.
Prior to your arrival, together we will have designed a custom kitchen and beverage menu for the duration of your stay. The Hunting Ranch has a 7,000-square-foot Hunting Lodge with six private bedrooms and 4.5 semi-private bathrooms. Most of the time all guest fees are waived for paying clients. Please notify us, prior to reserving your guided hunt, of how many people will be in your hunt party so we can be sure to provide the best experience for everyone. We will need age, relationship, and clothing sizes for your gift bag. Greeting each guest upon arrival is a relaxing room full of comfortable amenities, including free Wi-Fi and a useful custom hunt gift bag. We make sure that you will have time to decompress and get settled in upon your arrival at the Trophy Whitetail Deer Ranch.
Our Incredible Whitetail Deer Herd
The Refuge Ranch features a state-of-the-art breeding facility on the preserve. This way we can make sure that your Guided Trophy Whitetail Deer Hunt is going to yield a true trophy class whitetail deer harvest. We only introduce top-of-the-line genetics to the hunting ranch population. Most of our genetics yield stunning 200” plus class trophy bucks by the time they are 2 years of age and weigh in somewhere around 250 pounds. If you are looking for a big Michigan Trophy Whitetail Hunt, then this is where you need to come but this is not the place to come shoot a tiny whitetail deer.
One of the highlights of our experiences is allowing our guests to witness all of God’s creation in an environment made to wow hunters with the size of our trophy whitetail deer. Nutrition is as equally important as genetics when growing trophy whitetail deer herds. To help ensure a successful guided whitetail hunt we use feeders for additional protein and minerals for maximum deer growth and concentration. The Refuge Ranch’s trophy whitetail dietary needs are consistently met with 16-18% of their daily intake coming from protein and minerals. Refuge Ranch’s trophy whitetails hit full stride at 4 to 5 years of age and can reach up to 400 pounds of body weight and well over 230 inches SCI.
Guided Michigan Whitetail Hunting Trip
Your Fully Guided Michigan Whitetail Hunting Trip starts with one of our hunt guides taking you to our on-site rifle range. It is a professional range with custom shooting benches under a covered pavilion. Your hunting guide will usually have you shoot a couple times out to 100 yards to be sure that you are ready and to get your weapon properly sighted before your trophy whitetail deer hunt. The Refuge Ranch expects each hunting party member to be ready to shoot. Please be sure to have shot your weapon at least 30 days before you arrive and know it is in working condition. It is best advised to bring two boxes of deer hunting ammunition, 40 rounds, that’s if it is needed to site in your hunting rifle, that you have enough ammunition to also hunt. The hunting ranch does not offer weapons training nor hunter safety courses. The Refuge Ranch will provide guns to use at no charge in emergency situations and if you would rather not travel with your firearm, please discuss this when you are reserving your dates and we will take care of the rest.
Alongside our gun range we have a professional clay pigeons’ range. So, if you would like, in your down time and for the dead eye in your group, we include a little competitive shooting. If anyone can shoot 25 out of 25 clays, you will be leaving with a brand-new Remington 870 or comparable shotgun from our local gun store.
Gun Hunts at the Refuge Ranch are done out of 14-foot Ambush stands that overlook food plots and 20-foot double person ladder stands overlooking funnels and draws. Your hunt guide will be sure to keep you in range when on your guided trophy whitetail deer hunt. Most shots on our trophy whitetail deer will be between 100 and 125 yards. The recommend lowest caliber for taking trophy whitetail bucks here at the refuge Ranch is a .243 caliber or higher. The AR-10 works well, and we limit the AR-15 to 6.5 Grendel or 6.8 SPC. Remember when hunting with an AR style rifle, they are noisy when loading and whitetail deer do not like metallic sounds, we have seen them run with a flick of a safety before. Your hunt guide will instruct you, but everything else can only be used at the range.
Crossbows and compound bow hunts are also welcome at the hunting ranch. We use open ladder stands and your hunt guide will be sure to keep you in range as 80% of all shots at the deer hunting ranch are around 25 yards but be sure if you are shooting a crossbow to let your hunt guide know if you want something a little more challenging for your weapon of choice.
You will need to supply your own whitetail deer hunting gear while on the hunting ranch. Recommended items you should bring on your next guided trophy whitetail hunting trip should be; Your favorite camo clothing, boots, small flashlight or head lamp, binoculars, range finder, grunt call when in season, don’t forget the camera! Of course, we permit the use of cameras and phones for photos and video. All guests are asked to follow the Golden Rule, so please be respectful of all guests on the hunting ranch at all times when taking your trophy deer pictures and video.
While you do have to bring your whitetail deer hunting equipment, please note that you do not have to wear blaze orange as it is not required. Our hunt guides and staff will handle the rest of the details during your stay at the hunting ranch and will always be with you while participating in deer hunting activities.
